Nathania Bernabe

Nathania is a Filipino-Canadian actor, choreographer, director, writer and producer with a Bachelor of Arts in Drama and Education(Concordia University of Alberta). She is grateful for the incredible opportunities to train with such Schools and Companies like the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art(London), SITI Company(New York), Zen Zen Zo (Melbourne), Diavolo Dance (Los Angeles), Rapier Wit (Toronto), DynamO Théâtre (Montreal) and Second City (Chicago). Nathania has a profound love for physical theatre and is a certified instructor with Fight Directors Canada. Nathania is the Artistic Director of Affair of Honor, an award winning stage combat company she co-founded with Jackie T. Hanlin producing productions like Jovanni Sy’s The Five Vengeances and Qui Nguyen's Soul Samurai. Nathania and Jackie have also written new works titled Playthings and Multi-Vs, and their adaptation of The Musketeers into the Affair of Honor canon, an ever expanding repertoire of fight plays. Up next, they are creating their 10 year anniversary show titled V City.

Jackie T. Hanlin

Jackie T. Hanlin is an actor, fight choreographer and producer hailing from Halifax, Nova Scotia. She received her BA in Drama from Bishops University in 2015, and moved to Vancouver where she began her stage combat studies and work with her fight/producing partner Nathania Bernabe, co-founding Affair of Honor. Jackie is a certified instructor with The Academy of Fight Directors Canada. Since 2015 she has had the pleasure of being an actor, choreographer, writer and producer within Affair of Honor, producing Qui Nguyen’s Soul Samurai (Vancouver Fringe festival 2017/18) in which the fight and movement design received a Jessie Nomination in 2018, Karen Basset’s Heroine (Edmonton Fringe Festival 2018), House of Arms: an improvised fight episodic (2018), Playthings (Edmonton Fringe Festival 2019/Presentation House Theatre 2021), Fairlith Harvey’s Kill The Ripper (Presentation House Theatre/Rio Theatre 2022) Jovanni Sy’s The Five Vengeances (Shadbolt Centre for the Arts 2022) and Multi-Vs (Edmonton/Halifax Fringe 2023/2025).

Shona Struthers 

Affair of Honor Creative Associate

Shona is a UBC BFA Acting Graduate, former Pacific Theatre Apprentice, Affair of Honor company member. An actor, Intermediate FDC Actor Combatant, Advanced BADC Actor Combatant, and sound designer. Recent select acting credits: Ares in Playthings (Affair of Honor), Joan of Arc in Mother of the Maid (Pacific Theatre), 25 in The Wolves (WithASpoon, Rumble). They have sound designed for Arts Umbrella, Affair of Honor, Stone's Throw Productions, The Show Must Go Online.

Shona has been a part of Affair of Honor since 2018 as an Actor, Sound Designer, Stage Manager, Assistant Instructor, Technical Director, Production Manager and Fundraising Manager.

Heidi Damayo 

Affair of Honor Dramaturg

Heidi is a multidisciplinary theatre artist and proud Mestiza prairie girl from Mohkintsis in Treaty 7 Territory. She previously dramaturged Affair of Honor’s Playthings and the award winning Multi-Vs. She was Lunchbox Theatre’s 2023 Associate Dramaturg and runs her own private dramaturgy practice. She is currently writing Angels Unawares as a 5x25 Commission with Nightswimming Theatre. As an actor, she has performed on stages all across Western Canada, including Bard on the Beach, The Arts Club, The Citadel, Theatre Calgary, Vertigo, The Belfry, Lunchbox, and Green Thumb Theatre. Next year, she is thrilled to be debuting at The Stratford Festival as Millicent Tam in multi-award-winning director/playwright Jovanni Sy’s Tao of the World. She is a graduate of UBC Theatre, FDC certified actor combatant, two-time Betty nominee, Wesbrook scholar, and a recipient of the Stephen Woodhouse Memorial Prize.

Heidi has been a part of Affair of Honor since 2018 as an Dramaturg, Actor, Assistant Stage Manager, and Front of House.

Matthew Rhodes 

Affair of Honor General Manager

Matthew Rhodes (he/him) is a producer, director, and actor from unceded Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh land. He is a UBC BFA Acting graduate with a Master of Management degree from the Sauder School of Business. He has produced and production managed with Affair of Honor since 2021, and currently is the Associate Producer at Boca del Lupo. From his love of Shakespeare, he created Henry the 4th: Shrewsbury at the Vancouver Fringe Festival, started the Great Theatrical Disasters fundraiser at UBC, and began producing in 2020 with The Show Must Go Online, a global digital Shakespeare movement. Matthew has directed with Theatre Aurinko, Bramble Theatre, and Brave New Playwrights. He recently performed with Green Thumb Theatre in Still/Falling. He is also a teaching artist with Bard Education, and is a graduate of their Riotous Youth Internship.
